WHAT A FANTASTIC DAY WE HAD!! |
Saturday 2nd June 2007 turned out to be a wonderful day for our 6th Annual Gala Fun Day. The sunshine and the smiles of all those present lit up the day, The music was loud and so was the laughter of the children. It was deemed a great success, not only by us, but by well over 1000 people who turned up to enjoy themselves. The Parade was led by two Merseyside Mounted Police in ceremonial dress followed by the Mayor and Mayoress of Sefton riding in a landau accompanied by the Ainsdale Floral Queen and Ainsdale Floral Queen Elect. |
Then came the Formby Gems Morris Dancers, vintage cars, vintage fire tenders and a float provided by Hunter’s of Birkdale who carried A Steel Pan Band from St Ambrose Barlow RC School in Bootle. Also in the parade were children and adults in Fancy Dress and lots of PAT dogs (Pets as Therapy) with their owners. |

There was lots of fun for everyone but especially for the children with Fairground Rides, Model Railways, Giant Climbing Wall and lots, lots more. There were Charity Stalls, BBQ’s,an Art Exhibition and the local church held their garden fete and provided cream teas. In addition to our usual competitions for Best Dressed Shop Window, Best Dressed Charity Stall and Best Fancy Hat, we held a Fancy Dress Competition for all children under the age of 12. This competition was sponsored by Brough's Butchers and supported by the Southport Visiter who organised and judged the competition. The 1st prize was won by toddler Luke Sherburn who was dressed as a Pirate of the Caribbean. 2nd Prize went to Amelia Highdale, and the runners up were Emily Goldsmith and Alex Dougan. Everyone agreed, it was a fantastic day - possibly the best one yet!!. See the photos on the next page |
